COMMERCIAL and RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS
by RCLA MARU ARCHITECTS CO.
Very trendy and practical these years are the Design and Construction
of Buildings of multi-use. Many of them are RESIDENTIAL / COMMERCIAL
- where the lower floors are Commercial and the upper Floors
are Residential. This is where the DESIGN-BUILD Team
of RCLA MARU ARCHITECTS CO., harnessed their potential.
The photos herewith are documentations of one of the well-studied
and significant project of the company. Designed and implemented by
one of its Partners, Architect Reynold C. Lamasan, whose experience
and trainings were from abroad and the Philippines,
this Four Storey Building
created a Statement in the Community.
To hasten the construction period,
RCLA MARU ARCHITECTS CO.
employs heavy equipments for the projects depending
on their budget capacity.
The use of backhoe for critical excavation is a solution.
From the standard use of ordinary Concrete Hollow Blocks
and increasing its Requirements to 350 PSI and more.
From the conventional use of Wooden formworks to Steel Scaffoldings.
From the use of Reinforced Concrete Beams and Columns to
Structural I-Beams and Columns. And from the pouring of
Suspended Reinforced Concrete Slab on plywood and
wooden formworks to the use of Metal Decking Flooring System.
Reinforced Concrete must be of guaranteed quality.
Maybe by Pumpcrete or Line concrete pouring is always
a major part to take care in a Building Construction.
Designing and Constructing edifices is not just for Business
and Practice of Profession, it is more of a SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Here, the Design Solutions of Architect Reynold C. Lamasan had helped transformed the community to a more Cleaner, Modern and impressive environment which is critical to its location being
along MacArthur Highway at Bocaue, Bulacan.
This part of Brgy Bunlo had been a flooded area up to the stretch
of SM Marilao during the construction of the project. Just on the finishing stage of the project, this portion of the MacArthur Highway was elevated
and concreted by DPWH - much to the delight of the residents.
The government action on roadways and infrastructure enhances
not just the view but also the accessibility of the completed project.
Skylights and other glazing makes the facade impressive.
Aluminum Cladding gives a sleek and sassy effect to the building. Yellow denotes a gaiety and festive look, always new in the eyes of the beholder.
Individual lines like strips of yellow aluminum cladding forms like
SCREEN over certain openings. Alternating the reflective glass and horizontality of concrete beams gives a feeling of repose on a bright color.
The design is practical and economical, considering a simple facade,
yet the effect is distinctive.
Clean straight lines in white walls and yellow accents makes the edifice demure, on the go and positive. This dramatic use of color acts as identifier and a mood-setting element being a contributor of supposed to be an impressive scenario along the highway.
The reflection of the bright cloudy sky makes the building floating in heavens.
That Is the essence of the use of GLASS. Practicality and Beauty.
The use of GLASS as a transparent glazing material in the building envelop
included windows in the external walls. This wall-approach and technique
made the yellow cladding a floating spark within the Building Facade.
The GMRC Building, renamed a year later after its construction.

The building facade manufacturers have great decision that would probably be easiest. Setting a policy to residents "Allow Commercial On Ground Floor" or something like that. By the way I love your idea of color that building yellow and blue glass to show what you mean.
